President Xi Jinping apparently supports Russia in the Ukraine war with weapons.

According to official information, China is supplying combat drones to Moscow.

Beijing – China is trying to play a neutral mediating role in the Ukraine war.

In the meantime, it is becoming increasingly clear that Xi Jinping, who was recently in Moscow, is also actively supporting Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin in waging the war in Ukraine.

New findings show that China is one of the most important drone suppliers for Russia.

Experts observe that Asia could increasingly become a hub for Russian armaments.

"The result is a steady supply of new drones to Russia making their way to the front lines of the war with Ukraine," reports the

New York Times

.

Putin and Xi: China supports Moscow with drones worth millions

There have been reports for some time that Putin is using Chinese combat drones.

Now a report in the

New York Times

seems to confirm this.

Accordingly, Russia has received drones from around 70 different exporters – these are said to be 26 different brands from China.

The newspaper relies on official, available customs data from Russia.

China has delivered more than $12 million worth of drones and components for renamed flying objects to the Kremlin.

Most of the drones are said to come from the Chinese company DJI, which is said to have connections to the Chinese military.

DJI is the largest manufacturer of civilian drones in the world.

According to the company, it stopped selling its drones to Russia in April 2022.

Apparently they still get to Russia.

Some are said to have been sold directly by iFlight Technology, a subsidiary of DJI.

According to the editorial network Germany (RND)

, the models produced by DJI, so-called quadcopter drones, are

used by Ukraine and Russia.

Russia imports drones from sanctioned company

The US Department of Commerce placed DJI on a blacklist in 2020, preventing American firms from selling technology without express permission.

It was already announced at the end of 2019 that it no longer wanted to use the Chinese manufacturer's drones for fear of espionage.

US companies can only sell microchips and software to the affected companies with special permission.

The second-biggest drone brand sold to Russia was Autel, a Chinese drone maker with offices in the United States, Germany and Italy, according to the data.

Most recently, its drones were delivered to Russia in February 2023.

The company said it was not aware of any sales to Russia and announced an internal investigation.

Russia and Ukraine repeatedly report drone attacks during the war

Drones are becoming an important weapon in the Ukraine war.

According to Ukrainian information, civilians were only killed and seven others injured by Russian drone attacks on Wednesday night.

The Ukrainian military says it shot down 16 out of 21 Iranian-made Shahed drones that Russia fired at Ukraine.

Russian authorities also reported drone strikes carried out by Ukrainian forces on the annexed island of Crimea.

At the same time, Russia also reported successes: Moscow shot down Ukrainian drones near the city of Dschankoy.
