Ankara – The “Alliance for Work and Freedom” (Turkish: Emek ve Özgürlük İttifakı) has finally decided not to nominate its own candidate in Turkey's May 14 elections.

The alliance of left-wing parties consists of the pro-Kurdish HDP, Green Left Party, EMEP, TÖP, EHP, SMF, Barış Kayaoğlu, İnsan ve Özgürlük Partisi (People and Freedom Party), Kurdistan Demokratik Partis (Kurdistan Democratic Party).

AKP government has caused great destruction

“The economic and social policies implemented by the AKP government over the past 21 years have wreaked havoc in all areas of life.

Measures to restrict liberty based on oppression and unlawfulness know no borders,” HDP co-chair Pervin Buldan said in a joint press conference on Wednesday (March 22).

Buldan called the AKP government and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan a "one man regime".

The "presidential system is taking the breath away of the people in Turkey," said Buldan.

The politicians are certain that Erdogan will not be re-elected as president.

"As a country and as a society, we will wake up with hope on the morning of May 15."

Before Turkey election: with united forces against Erdogan

The Alliance for Work and Freedom calls their decision a historic duty.

“We must join forces to put an end to the one-man regime.

We must create a climate in which a bright and free Turkey can emerge,” said EHP President Hakan Öztürk.

In doing so, these left-wing parties support the presidential candidate of the opposition alliance “Six Table”, Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

A separate candidate would be hopeless and would weaken Erdogan's opponents.

Continued massive economic problems and currency collapse in Turkey

The country's problems are spreading and have worsened since the devastating earthquake.

Many people still have no tents or containers in the disaster region.

The people there still lack everything.

The economic crisis is also getting worse.

While the state statistics institute puts inflation at 55.18 percent, the independent economic institute "ENA Grup" calculates inflation at 126.9 percent.

The US dollar is now above 19 TL and the downward trend of the Turkish lira is still not in sight.
