The costs for the planned construction of a new residential building at Murnau train station have risen by 62 percent to 3.4 million.
Municipal councilor Franz Neuner (CSU) describes this as “cheeky”.
Murnau – New living space will soon be built at the train station in Murnau.
The approximately 100-year-old house with the dilapidated lime-green facade is being replaced by a new building with twelve apartments, two car-sharing spaces and a further 22 sheltered bicycle spaces.
Increase in costs for new construction: nobody in the building authority is surprised
The municipal councilors in the building committee have now learned that the project will be significantly more expensive than initially calculated.
Instead of the estimated 2.1 million euros, the planners are now talking about 3.4 million euros.
This does not surprise anyone in the building authority, emphasizes Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP/Bürgerforum).
"We did the math ourselves.
The total isn't that far off from what we're seeing right now.” The market has earmarked 2.62 million euros for its property at Bahnhofplatz 3 in its budget plans for the next few years.
He wants to get the rest through grants.
The architects justify the hefty cost increase with more expensive raw materials, the complex shoring towards Seehauser Straße and increased noise protection requirements.
Even if the jump in costs was to be expected: Franz Neuner from the CSU said what some were thinking.
“Jump from 2.1 to 3.4 million is cheeky.
Nobody can work like that.” He could have understood a 20 percent deviation – with a stomach ache.
But not 62 percent more.
In view of such calculations, professionals will no longer be needed in the future, says Neuner.
"Then we can do it ourselves."
At that time, the Murnau councilors opted for the cheaper and more pragmatic solution with two buildings arranged in an L-shape – and against a trapezoidal building.
After all, the funding increases with the costs.
"That's what makes it so attractive," says Rolf Beuting.
Up to 30 percent comes from the state.
Whether other small grants will be added cannot be estimated at this point in time.
In order to save costs, the market building authority also painted the glass facade in the stairwell.
Ultimately, the members of the building committee voted unanimously for the demolition and new construction of the facility at Bahnhofplatz.
Especially since the community sees the new complex as an investment.
Due to new construction: Monument locomotive Johanna has to go
For the period of the work, the monument locomotive "Johanna", which is exhibited next to the property, has to give way.
In cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, the administration has found a temporary location.
A crane lifts the old locomotive onto the station forecourt, where the taxis are currently parked.
At the same time, the track bed of the exhibit can be renovated, says Gudrun Kammerloher from the building authority.
Franz Neuner suggested finding a permanent new place.
A small garden could then also be created for the residents of the new building.
The CSU man asks that the mayor and the administration should once again search intensively for a new place and ideally involve active railroad enthusiasts in the search.
"It would be a great thing to let them jump on the bandwagon."
