"

You're going to train your brain in prison!"

“Apostrophized by a civil party visibly moved from the first suspension of hearing, eight members or sympathizers of the far-right group Bordeaux Nationaliste – which had been dissolved on February 1 – are tried on Wednesday under high tension for “violence committed in meeting because of true or supposed belonging to an ethnic group, nation, race or religion” and “sexist insults”.

As soon as the trial opened, a defense lawyer tried to have it annulled by invoking a procedural defect concerning 4 of the defendants.

In vain.

The facts of which they are accused took place in the early morning of June 25, 2022 in the cosmopolitan Bordeaux district of Saint-Michel.

If we think in terms of territories, we are more in a pro-antifa district than

a nationalist Bordeaux

.

You knew that you were going to meet people who were hostile to your ideas

”, immediately underlines the President of the Court, Charles Moynot.

Between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. that night, “

after an evening with friends in a bar

”, the defendants wandered the streets bellowing “

Bordeaux Nationaliste

” and “

we are at home

”, dressed in black, even masked and in pants. of military fatigues.

All while singing: “

And where are the antifas?

with arms raised in Nazi salutes.

It was a gesture of demonstration

”, painfully assures Fabien A., 25, the first defendant to be heard.

His little brother, Lucas A., 19, (in whose house smileys with the effigy of the Führer were found during the searches and who believes that "Hitler wanted to protect his country"

while

denying his adherence to Nazism) , recognizes this fact to him well at the bar.

That evening, the situation had quickly degenerated.

On numerous videos, produced by the surveillance cameras of the city and local residents, we see those whom the police investigation describes as "

a small group moving with the clear intention of fighting with certain residents

" approaching of passers-by.

Alerting bartenders and neighbors with their nocturnal noise and "

their monkey cries

" on the night of June 24 to 25, the group claims "

to have approached a couple who were being attacked by ten scum

".

Then, the tone would have risen between the inhabitants and the alleged revelers until a first blow was struck by a man coming down from his home to warn "

little young people

".

In the fight that then broke out, described as "

reciprocal

" by the courts, the latter was struck by the defendants who "

claimed to have defended themselves

" and who, for several, have also filed a complaint to this effect.

One of the victims was diagnosed with ITT for four days, who filed a civil action alongside Marie B.. The young woman filed a complaint the same night after being insulted on the grounds of sexism and of racism according to his hearings.

“We were drunk”

A third civil party, who also filed a complaint, describes a whole different story.

Coming out of a bar when he, according to his words, singled out "

racist insults

" in the street, the Bordelais would have intervened when he heard "

the leader

" of the group swing at a young man who was hanging out: "

I'm going to go to Algeria to kiss your mother !

“Taunting the defendant and retorting “

I too am at home

”, he would then have been gassed with a pepper spray while another young member of Bordeaux Nationaliste struck him a blow.

These young people, aged 19 to 38, mostly workers and some of whom still live with their parents without having a driving license, were they really in town to "have a drink with friends"

as

they grant or were they raiding for an altercation?

The question posed by the President of the Court is at the heart of the trial: judged in a meeting, all will have to answer individually for collective actions and reciprocal violence that they do not contest.

And the lawyers of the League of Human Rights, the Licra Bordeaux and Gironde, as well as SOS Racisme, who are also civil parties, have every intention of demonstrating that it is the second option. .

Several elements in the file speak against the civil parties.

Taken shortly before the facts in front of the bar Le Singe Vert, "

reputed stronghold of antifas

" in Bordeaux, a snapshot which made it possible to identify the defendants circulated widely on social networks.

A “

souvenir photo

” as assured by one of the brothers, while the civil parties were indignant with stifled laughter on their bench?

What is certain, insists the prosecution, is that the image was also shared in a "

very connoted

" private Telegram channel with the caption: "

9 nationalists against 25

scum and dealers

".

In another video preceding the facts and found in the phone of one of the defendants, where we see him holding a tear gas canister in his hands, he says very distinctly: "Okay guys, I don't think I

was supposed to find it on my job, but it's still a bit full, I took it.

»

Faced with this evidence, the two brothers presented to the bar this morning had a hard time convincing the Court of their answers.

Nazi salutes?

"

We were drunk

," said the eldest.

What is the far right?

Great silence, punctuated by an "

I don't know

".

As for the question, reformulated three times by the president: “

Do you understand that the apology of Nazism

(whose qualification has not been retained here, editor’s note)

is reprehensible and condemned?

" The defendant, who refused to define his ideology other than by claiming "

ideas of the National Rally

", ended up mumbling: "

I do not have the same ideas as the Nazis, I am against that

".

What about monkey cries then?

We also do them on a rugby field after having made ahou ahou in the locker room

”, discards the little brother thanks to a question from his council.

Just after having retorted to a lawyer for the civil parties, thus provoking the indignation of the assembly: “

We come down from the tree: we are all monkeys.

»

After two days of hearing, the Bordeaux criminal court must deliver its verdict on Friday.
