Ariel Ardit, before singing the River Anthem: "For me, soccer is more passion than tango"

2023-03-23T15:17:21.798Z

On other occasions he shone in the qualifying matches and sang for Maradona in Dubai, but this afternoon he will do it for the first time for the world champion team.

Ariel Ardit

is one of the greatest references of Argentine tango and is part of a group that has once again put city music on a global pedestal.

Now he was summoned again to sing the

National Anthem

of our country, but in front of the faces of the players who are nothing more and nothing less than world champions.

The singer

has already done it on two other occasions, but in times of playoffs

, when there was still mistrust with this group of players who finally broke it in Dubai at the end of last year, obtaining the major cup, after 30 years of drought.

“Yesterday, Wednesday, I started the day at 7 in the morning and I did not stop making notes;

everyone calls me”, says the singer, bustle and happiness through.

"I'm lucky"

-You already sang twice for the selection, did you become an amulet?

-No.

I am lucky to be chosen again.

I had already fulfilled a dream when they invited me to sing the

National Anthem

in the qualifying match against Uruguay.

On top of that, we won 3-0. It's been a long time since we won like that!

It was something like a dance.

I never thought that I would sing for the National Team again.

-And how did you get to them?

They asked for me.

They asked for the tanguero, if he would return.

"Why don't you sing in River?".

They said it, and I found out

-Apparently they liked your performance.

-I had sung twice in five days, in qualifying time, but now I will sing for the world champions, it is impossible to tell what it feels like.

-Did you receive more comments from the players?

-I know you liked the a cappella version.

The comments were very good.

The AFA people were very happy and they let me know.

"Chiqui Tapia listened to my a cappella version"

Ardit, a fan of Carlos Gardel, has more than half a dozen albums released as a soloist.

-How did your relationship with the AFA come about to get to sing the Anthem?

-I had recorded the

Hymn

on a disc with the typical orchestra.

And a journalist friend, Daniel, was the link.

I remember that I told him that we would have to sing the

Anthem

from the heart, a cappella, for the National Team.

I told it to my journalist friends, I even sent it to one of them sung a cappella by cell phone.

All this reached the ears of Chiqui Tapia and I ended up invited to his birthday in 2018. And Chiqui replied: "It's a good idea to recover this and sing from the heart."

Then time passed, I didn't think they would call me, but in 2021 the unexpected happened.

-How did you live those first two times?

-They called me and I sang in front of the players.

People got involved, they too.

I was also a fan, but with a microphone in hand.

I also had the experience of singing for Diego Maradona in Dubai.

That was great too.

"It is a pride to sing the Hymn for the champions"

Ariel Ardit in 2028, at the Unicos festival.

-What is your relationship with soccer?

-I came from Córdoba at the age of eight and tried myself in some clubs like Huracán and River, but I didn't have the conditions to play in the First Division.

However, I played with those from the square and we faced the boys from the clubs.

I am a fan of Talleres de Córdoba and I have been playing ball once a week with friends for 18 years.

Soccer for me is more passion than tango, although it is hard to believe.

-You have friends from the football environment.

How did those relationships come about?

-For years I have been together with Carlos Babington, Coco Basile, Horacio Pagani, Diego Tursnei and others.

We are a bar that we usually get together to eat at La Raya, which is an old restaurant that has always been linked to soccer.

-What are your expectations for today at the Monumental?

Because now you will sing for the champions.

-Triple of the previous times.

He thinks that there will be 83,000 people at the River stadium and surely many people will also see it at home.

I don't go as a tango singer;

I go as a fan.

But it is also a source of pride to sing the

National Anthem

for the champions and to be a tango singer.

Because tango is for smaller redoubts.

I am proud to sing for you and also to be a tango singer.

It took 30 years to win the cup again, and the context is very strong, like the social situation and brotherhood despite differences and crises.

-Would you like to have more direct contact with the players?

-Obvious, but the truth is that it is not what I am looking for.

I don't want to be invasive.

When I sang in a pandemic, they were in a bubble.

I respect them and the fact of being able to sing while looking into their eyes is glory for me.

What more can I ask for!

-Does your family also have an approach to sports?

-My two daughters play volleyball.

One plays for Boca and the other for Deportivo Italiano.

They used to listen to tango for me, but now I listen to the music they listen to and I learn.

MY family is happy because today I will sing for the World Champion Team.
