Some 300 big names in French cinema and the world of culture signed, in
Liberation
on Wednesday March 22, an open letter to the President of the Republic to denounce the pension reform, the day before the mobilization of March 23, which promises to be of great magnitude.
Juliette Binoche, Camille Cottin, Michel Hazanavicius, Jonathan Cohen or even Laure Calamy are opposed to
"the method of forcing the passage by
49.3
"
.
“Reason and democracy require the immediate withdrawal of this pension reform
,” they write.
Until now rather silent, the world of culture joins the movement:
"it is high time to make our voices heard, because cinema, theater, culture, if they sometimes carry dreams and escape, are above all works that speak of our world.”

“More ambitious projects to carry out”
They also warn of the consequences that this reform could have on artists, authors, intermittent performers.
And more broadly on women:
"Surveys have amply demonstrated that this precariousness is even greater for women than for men, that roles are rarer after 50 years for us, actresses for example."
While pleading for the
"immediate withdrawal
" of this reform, the signatories urge Emmanuel Macron to stop
"fragmenting society"
, adding that
"there are much more ambitious projects to carry out to consolidate it."
