Curious misunderstanding in “Who wants to be a millionaire?”: Shortly before the commercial break, Günther Jauch stretched out his middle finger to his candidate – the moderator had previously misinterpreted a hand movement.

Cologne – Actually, Günther Jauch (66) is usually up for any fun: the “Who wants to be a millionaire?” moderator likes to make a mischievous saying or a pointed remark here and there – much to the delight of his audience.

But the 66-year-old can also become rougher, as he proved on Monday evening (March 20).

After a curious misunderstanding, he unabashedly held both middle fingers up to the camera.

“Who wants to be a millionaire?” Candidate gambles away one joker after the other – Günther Jauch is happy

For Annika Joffel it got really tricky early on in "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?": Without thinking twice, the Finn happily resorted to her four jokers, bet one after the other and was only able to make leisurely progress thanks to them.

The cat lover ran out of her last two tools when she asked the 8,000 euro question: First she played the 50:50 joker, only to secure herself a little later with a telephone joker – much to the delight of the RTL presenter.

"If a certain additional consonant got into the 'paella', does the doctor recognize it...?" Günther Jauch tested the anatomical knowledge of his candidate.

Although she came to the conclusion that it must be the patella, she could not decide between the remaining answer options a) a kneecap or b) a shoulder blade.

Her father found a remedy on the phone, who advised her to do a) – absolutely correct!

But before Annika Joffel was redeemed, Jauch passed the question on to the television viewers, who could participate via SMS.

Then the “Who wants to be a millionaire?” moderator wanted to transition to the commercial break, while his candidate nervously crossed his fingers and worried about getting ahead.

Misunderstanding in "Who wants to be a millionaire?" - Günther Jauch shows the middle finger in the RTL program

But the supposedly lucky gesture was not well received by her counterpart: "Did you just show me two stinky fingers?" Asked Günther Jauch, aghast – a misunderstanding that Annika Joffel was extremely uncomfortable with: "No!" and again raised their crossed fingers in the air as proof.

While the audience laughed loudly, the RTL presenter did not miss the opportunity to clearly demonstrate again what he had previously mistakenly seen: with a smug smile on his lips, he stretched out both middle fingers towards the candidate – clearly visible to the television cameras!

"That would have been an innovation," joked the 66-year-old.

For Annika Joffel, however, that was the end of it: she took home the 8,000 euros she had earned.

However, the middle finger intermezzo will probably stay with her for a while.

Another scene recently caused a stir: RTL apparently pixelated Günther Jauch's moderation cards on "Who wants to be a millionaire?"
