Magic mark cracked: Volksfest birthday with record beer price

Now it has cracked, the ten-euro mark, for the first time in the district: the mass at the Puchheim folk festival costs 10.50 euros this year and is therefore 70 cents more expensive than last year.

Now it has cracked, the ten-euro mark, for the first time in the district: the mass at the Puchheim folk festival costs 10.50 euros this year and is therefore 70 cents more expensive than last year.

Puchheim – The landlord refers to the general price explosion and significantly increased costs.

But there is a special birthday present for the folk festival visitors.

In about three weeks, the first keg of beer will be tapped at the Puchheim folk festival.

"I won't tell you yet how many hits I'll need," said Mayor Norbert Seidl with his usual humor on Thursday at the press conference for this year's anniversary Oktoberfest.

He thinks about that in the shower.

It is already clear how much visitors have to pay for a mass: 10.50 euros.

Last year it was 9.80 euros.

"The magic limit of ten euros has now been exceeded," admits the head of the town hall.

For the first time in the district, a mass for more than ten euros will go over the counter.

But: "We have to make sure that everyone survives," explains Seidl.

costs have increased significantly

This applies, for example, to host Jochen Mörz, who has been part of the Puchheimer Volksfest “Auftakt” from the start.

Normally the beer price goes up 30/40 cents, this time it's 70 cents.

Mörz says the costs for him have increased significantly.

He used to fill up his four trucks for 6,000 euros, now he has to shell out twice as much.

The disposal of leftovers also costs more than 80 percent more.

And then the price explosion in general: "You just have to look at what the butter costs." Raw materials are becoming more and more expensive, as confirmed by Josef Wildgruber from the Hacker brewery, which supplies the folk festival with the beer.

And with the "Heaven of Bavaria", which one knows from the Wiesn tent and is proud of the Volksfest speaker Thomas Hofschuster (CSU) every year.

(

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular

FFB newsletter.)

Together with the folk festival team, he has also thought of a special gift for the visitors.

After all, the Puchheim Wiesn is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year (although there used to be a folk festival before, it was revived by Mayor Norbert Seidl in 2013).

On Family Day, Sunday, April 16, from 5 p.m. there is a special price for the anniversary special: 6.80 euros for a beer and 6.80 euros for half a chicken.

"These should be around the prices of ten years ago," said Hofschuster.

It is made possible by the sponsorship of the city, inn and brewery, which according to Hofschuster still has real local color and has not been merged into an international group.

Hacker will also be serving free beer again before the pageant on Saturday, April 15th.

On Seniors' Day (17.

There are enough waitresses

As far as waiters and kitchen are concerned, the landlord is looking forward to the coming season much more relaxed than last year: "Mörz can sleep again." 2022 was a year of horror due to the corona.

The team at the Puchheim folk festival consisted of 13 instead of the usual 40 people.

Since his son is absent for health reasons, Mörz has hired a new kitchen manager.

A Hungarian chef serves a delicious goulash, more daily specials are offered.

Those with a sweet tooth will also get their money's worth.

Baumstriezel and crépes are available for the first time at the Volksfestplatz.

Visitors to the folk festival can also look forward to rides such as the Phoenix and Musikexpress.

On Children's Day (April 19), day-care centers can use the children's carousel free of charge between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Famous band with concert premiere

A special highlight is the appearance of Django 3000. Exactly ten years ago they had their breakthrough with the Oktoberfest hit "Heidi".

Now they are coming to Puchheim (Thursday, April 20, 8 p.m.).

It's the first concert of the new tour, so it's a real premiere in Puchheim.

Tickets are available for 26.20 euros in the PUC cultural center and at the Bräunling bookstore.

And there is another premiere: For the first time, the Brucker ice disco DJ Cis will be DJing.

On the other party evenings, Nachtstark and Sauwuid provide a great atmosphere.

The mayor also made a special appearance at the press conference in Taki's tavern on the sports field: he looked back on the past ten years with a Gstanzl.

And one thing is clear: the beer has never run out.
