State of Unreal (Epic Games)

Yesterday evening (Wednesday) Apik Games held a broadcast in which it detailed all the updates to its home game engine - Enril 5.2.

It included an impressive display of capabilities and a number of technological demos, trailers for games built in the same engine as (Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, Judas and many others) and the new Creative mode of Fortnite that fully integrates with Enril 5.2 and its various capabilities.

The CEO of Epik Games,

Tim Sweeney

opened the evening with thoughts about the future. He detailed the concept of the "Open Metaverse" - an interactive construction environment that also includes players and other users. The demo presented shows how users use Enril 5.2 to build virtual buildings easily and quickly in the virtual space. We've previously detailed how the Battle Royale game has long since become a living and kicking Metaverse that many giants in the market who aspire to reach this point have something to learn from.According to Sweeney, this vision will come true in the next decade.

The next generation facial animations

Enril 5.2's facial animation technology, Metahuman, has been upgraded and now allows users to take a facial video with their mobile phone and get a digital result in your character that the next generation game engine will render for you.

In order to continue the impressive display of abilities, the actress Melina Jurgen, who plays Sanoa in the Hellblade game series, took the stage.

She demonstrated how the facial capture technology and animations are helping Ninja Theory develop the upcoming sequel.

Although this is not a new trailer for the anticipated game, we are waiting patiently.

Fortnite is upgrading and becoming more ambitious

Until today, Fortnite contained a popular Creative Mode where players can use all the assets (Assets) available in the game.

Whether it's animations, character models, sound files, effects, or any other "asset" of the game - players could use it to create their own personal gaming experience into Fortnite.

Sweeney presented during the evening the new creation mode 2.0, which is going to unite with the capabilities of the Enril 5.2 engine.

What it means?

That players will no longer be limited to the Fortnite file directory alone, and will be able to use any asset supported by the Enril 5.2 engine.

This means that players will be able to deliver much more impressive results that are no longer limited to Fortnite's cartoon graphics - into the game itself.

And they will be able to share their results with other players online.

This means that the revealed facial animation technology will also be available within Fortnite itself.

This step will allow the Battle Royale game to become an "ecosystem", where players create content and offer it for sale in the Epic Games digital store.

Of course, all of this is going to call into the Metaverse that Epic is building as well.

And according to Sweeney, users and developers are a key step in that vision.

Afik continues its steps and opens Enril for all users who are interested in creating content and developing games.

It continues to remove all barriers in the current generation and makes access and development much easier for novice users.

Whether it was a coincidence or a planned move, last night Valve unveiled Counter Strike 2, built on its own in-house game engine, Source 2. To date, Valve has also allowed players to create mods and games using Source and publish it on the Steam platform, and last night it was announced that the editing and development tools of Source 2 in Counter Strike 2 will also become available.
