Sentences of 4 months to 2 years in prison, suspended, accompanied by a ban on practicing, were requested Thursday, March 23 at the appeal trial of seven agents of the Nancy night BAC, prosecuted for harassment and racist insults at the against colleagues.
“I salute the importance of the police in our social pact. The dismissed civil servants are the opposite of what is expected of the national police”
, declared the Advocate General, Jean-Jacques Bosc, to begin his requisitions.
He demanded suspended prison sentences for the seven defendants of 4 months, 6 months (for two defendants), 1 year and 2 years (for two defendants), accompanied by bans from practicing for 1, 2 or 5 years, or even, for the
"instigator"
of the harassment dynamic, a permanent ban on exercising any public function.
He also requested the release of the seventh defendant.
“I find it sad to have had to request such a case for my last case. The police must not drift like this in a democratic society”
, he concluded after a plea of about two hours.
“It is at the height of the gravity of the facts.
The public prosecutor's office reaffirmed that these behaviors were unacceptable, that these officials were not police officers worthy of the name.
Above all, he clearly characterized that these behaviors constituted harassment
, ”said AFP Me Frédéric Berna, one of the two lawyers for the four civil parties.
“These people may no longer do damage in police uniform.
It is very reassuring for everyone
,” he added.

“The Advocate General requested in a vacuum, this file is a sidereal void in terms of facts actually observed”
, on the contrary tackled Laurent Franck Liénard, lawyer for one of the defendants, for whom he pleaded for release.
“We are on an atmosphere, on a disagreement between colleagues, in no way on facts of harassment.”
The trial continues Friday, with the final closing arguments from the defence.
Apart from the acquittal, these requisitions are slightly higher than the convictions pronounced at first instance by the Nancy court: in March 2022, the police officers had been sentenced to 6 to 18 months suspended prison sentences, each accompanied by a ban on 'exercise.
At the end of the investigation, the report of the IGPN had revealed an organized
“system of harassment”
and the
“uninhibited racism”
which had reigned for years within this service where a small group of police officers operated according to
“an pack logic”
.
