Emmanuel Macron confirmed it during his interview on Wednesday March 22, granted to TF1 and France 2: the immigration bill, carried by Gérald Darmanin and expected in the hemicycle in the Senate on March 28, is finally postponed.
This decision results in particular from a request from the LR President of the Upper House, Gérard Larcher.
If the latter assumes to take "
his responsibilities
", he is however opposed to the alternative mentioned by the Head of State, namely the presentation of a reform divided into several texts.
“
A migration policy is a whole
”, indeed insisted Gérard Larcher, guest Thursday morning on LCI.
Like the boss of LR senators, Bruno Retailleau, it seems impossible for the elected official to dissociate "
litigation, administrative functioning, integration issues, questions of asylum, family reunification, students, employment contracts...
".
"
Going to slalom is an interesting exercise for skiers
", he quipped, "
but in politics, you need consistency and courage
".

“
There are subjects which require large texts
”, insisted the senator from Yvelines again, while Emmanuel Macron instructed his Prime Minister, the day before, to present shorter legislative texts.
For Gérard Larcher, the "
migration policy
" cannot comply with this exercise, as it requires "
a global policy
".
The elected official assumes, on the other hand, to have requested this postponement from the president, and this Sunday from “
Sunday evening
” last.
Gérard Larcher therefore highlighted "
the need for such an important text
" to be "
examined in peaceful conditions
".
However, in the midst of social and political protest against the pension reform, causing tensions also within the right, "
my feeling is that next week, I am not yet certain that the conditions of appeasement to examine a a text which covers such fundamental aspects
,” noted the senator.
