Freising

– State elections will take place in October.

The Freising Citizens' Association wants to use the time until then to work through information events, lectures and press releases on key issues relating to air traffic and to formulate questions for the state politicians from Freising.

On Wednesday, the series began in Attaching.

The starting point

The Freising doctor Dr.

Herman Hobmair.

The main messages: The UFP concentration of 10,000 particles per cubic centimeter, which the World Health Organization classifies as high and dangerous, is exceeded on many days in the vicinity of the airport Consequences of fine dust pollution.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The outrage

Against this background, the second chairman of the Freising citizens' association, Wolfgang Herrmann, finds it "outrageous" that the MUC does not even discuss options for reducing the UFP, although the burden on employees and the children of the "airport hops" "since have long been known".

Since 2017, the citizens' association has been measuring the UFP exposure around the airport.

The fact that measurements are also taken at the airport itself has always been rejected.

Such an application was only recently rejected again in the state parliament with the votes of the CSU, FW, FDP and AfD.

For Herrmann and the citizens' association, one thing is certain: "In this way, those affected remain the victims of political intrigues and the business interests of FMG."

The measurements

The results of the measurements, which began in July 2021 at the instigation of the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment and were carried out by BV together with the Helmholtz Center, exist, says Herrmann, but they will not be published until 2024 (or 2025), even if the results of the Measurements by the University of Bayreuth are available.

Details of the results available so far are not allowed to be given, but he can already reveal that much: everything that the BV has measured has been confirmed.

The actual UFP values are even a third higher than those registered by the BV devices.

The fact that we now have to wait another two or even three years before measures to reduce UFP exposure are discussed or implemented sounds like "pure delaying tactics", says Herrmann.

The hope

One is tired of "constantly hearing" that one still has to gain further knowledge, needs more measurements and studies.

The use of low-sulphur kerosene, taxi bots, a reduction in short-haul flights and no third runway: all of this is possible and is the responsibility of the Free State as the majority owner of FMG.

But nothing happens.

With Florian Herrmann, there is a state minister in the government, but it has not yet been noticed that he is “proactively” taking care of the issue.

Despite several inquiries, there has not yet been a personal conversation between BV representatives and Herrmann.

"But we haven't given up hope yet," says Wolfgang Herrmann.
