- Finally again Josefifest am Reutberg - after three dreary years, as Hans Erhard, chairman of the supervisory board of the Reutberg brewery cooperative, stated at the opening of the general assembly on Wednesday evening.

The tent at the foot of the monastery hill was well filled.

The attendees, including 1,611 voting members of the cooperative, also seemed to enjoy the iconic atmosphere of the gathering with renewed enthusiasm.

Hard times due to the corona pandemic

The two Corona years 2020 and 2021 were not easy, summarized Chairman of the Supervisory Board Erhard, in 2020 alone a drop in sales of around 732,000 euros was recorded.

Nevertheless, it was possible to make up 90 percent of this minus by the end of 2022 and to generate positive results in the end.

From the spring of 2022, after many pandemic measures had been lifted, business picked up again, reported Managing Director Stephan Höpfl: "We received a large number of orders for the delivery of events, and the situation in the catering trade normalized again. "

The own beer output was increased by more than 1,000 to almost 22,300 hectoliters, with the proportion of container and draft beer increasing by over 2,300 hectoliters, while the proportion of bottled beer fell by over 1,200 hectoliters.

Together with the trade goods in beverages (1000 hectoliters of foreign beers and 8000 hectoliters of non-alcoholic drinks), a total output of 31,400 hectoliters was achieved.

According to Höpfl, the corresponding sales revenues were 4.2 million euros, 500,000 euros higher than in the previous year.

Equity increased in 2022

The figures from the annual financial statements presented by Siegfried Drexl from the auditing department of the Bavarian Association of Cooperatives were also positive.

"Our members see the economic situation of the cooperative from this," as Hans Erhard emphasized.

Equity increased by EUR 143,375 to around EUR 3.012 million in 2022, and the equity ratio is 78 percent.

During the Corona and Ukraine wars, with a generally uncertain economic situation and general inflation, the cooperative exercised restraint in spending.

According to managing director Höpfl, the purchases cost a total of around 150,000 euros.

This included a car for the new sales representative Sepp Hellweger (who introduced himself from the stage), equipping catering customers, buying new glass and renovating the "Reutbergstüberl" in Tölz on the occasion of a change of tenants.

New elections of the board of directors and the supervisory board

Personnel changes resulted from the new elections to the Board of Management and the Supervisory Board.

Board member Georg Kappelsberger no longer stood as a candidate after eleven years of service.

His successor is Hans Leo, who was only elected to the Supervisory Board last year.

Hans Peter Drexler takes the vacant place there.

Hans Wolfinger, who is also leaving the Supervisory Board, will be replaced by Hans Gams jun.

replaced.

As is well known, the brewery meeting does not only deliver sober figures.

The key people are also not at a loss for striking and ironic sayings about the current beer and economic policy processes in Munich and Berlin.

The Corona regulations, the emergency aid with attached repayment claims and the controversial plans for alcohol and drug consumption offered enough material for brewery board member August Maerz and the long-time "preacher" from Reutberg, Lothar Ebbertz from the Bavarian Brewers' Association.

What he seems to have forgotten: ten oxen is probably a cabinet.”

"The CSU roughly corresponds to the Lager Hell beer type, high market share in the core market, currently plagued by delisting concerns due to weak performance in the overall German market." Lothar Ebbertz from the Bavarian Brewers' Association.

"Die Freie Wahler is like a Helles Export, the beer of the years of the economic boom, liquefied optimism, a bit fuller, more angular and intense in colour, only the expert distinguishes it from normal Helles." Lothar Ebbertz

“The SPD is the Kellerbier type, a fringe variety that has been somewhat forgotten in Bavaria.

Naturally cloudy, untaped, it comes across as a little lackluster, but that's intentional with the cellar beer." Lothar Ebbertz,

“The FDP is moving in the direction of light wheat beer.

When pouring, there is quickly a lot of foam, but it quickly collapses again.

At first glance, it looks like a real beer, but it's quite easy to drink, and it's only 4 to 7 percent - that varies."

Lothar Ebbertz.

“The AfD is the dark beer among the parties.

The original wort varies regionally.

Color dark gold, amber, a touch of brownish.

Not fully fermented, high residual sweetness, one could confuse legal extract with residual extract.” Lothar Ebbertz.

"The Greens - that's craft beer.

The strong beer, the Baerbock, is popular.

Breaking with the brewing convention is the order of the day here.” Lothar Ebbertz.

"The Left - violates the Bavarian Purity Law - does not exist in the Free State." Lothar Ebbertz

"The monastery brewery didn't jump on the bandwagon and mix valuable beer with passion fruit, mango or other lemonades.

Our brewery takes a firm stand against any form of beer abuse.” Andreas Rammler, Mayor of Sachsenkam.
