Despite strong salary increases, candidates are still waiting in the hotel and catering industry

DECRYPTION - The shortage of labor and inflation have led the bosses of the sector to make a particularly important effort.


It's a funny advertisement that the restaurant Les Grands Buffets has offered itself.

If this Narbonnais establishment made the headlines in the fall, it's less for its cuisine than for its large salaries.

After having increased the salaries of its employees by 30%, its director undertook to index them to inflation, with a leveling every six months.

Without going that far, most hotel and catering establishment managers have had to put their hands in their wallets in recent months to retain or attract employees.

The Dares figures are unequivocal: in the fourth quarter, the index of the sector's basic monthly salary grew by 4.6% over one year.

This surge is certainly largely linked to that of the minimum wage, accommodation and catering being the sector where the proportion of employees concerned by the revaluation of the minimum wage is the highest (42%).
