The Erdinger car-sharing association is happy about 78 percent growth and wants to put a sixth car into operation soon.

There is also cooperation with other district municipalities.

Erding – The Erding car-sharing association grew faster than ever before in the past year.

In the past twelve months, the number of beneficiaries has risen from 101 to 180. "The rate of increase of over 78 percent is a nice confirmation of our joint voluntary commitment," explains Chairman Tobias List in a press release.

There is a growing interest in a sustainable lifestyle and in sustainable mobility.

In addition, the shared use of vehicles is usually much cheaper than owning a car, List emphasized.

Due to the great demand, the car-sharing association only put a fifth car into operation in the city area in November and opened a new parking space on Ganghofer Straße in the presence of Mayor Max Gotz.

Nevertheless, List admitted that there were temporary bottlenecks in bookings during the winter months.

The general meeting therefore decided unanimously to purchase a sixth vehicle in the coming months.

The board of directors wants to find a suitable location in Altenerding-Süd in close cooperation with the city.

In addition, the association would like to enter into cooperation with interested communities in the district according to the Isen model.

In January, the local council there set the course for the introduction of a car sharing service in the market town (we reported).

The Erdinger association has been operating a vehicle in Isen since mid-February, and 20 authorized users are currently registered, according to List.

The municipality will pay a monthly subsidy for three years, after which the project should be financially self-supporting.

In the meantime, other communities have expressed their interest in the Isen cooperation model, List explained.

The general meeting also gave the green light for the planned entry into electromobility in Erding.

With the appropriate funding from the public sector, the association wants to buy its first electric car and its own charging station.

A new project group is to advance the complex topic.
