The Pentagon announced tonight (Friday) that the United States attacked Iranian targets in Syria, in response to a drone attack yesterday in which an American contractor was killed, another person and five soldiers were injured.
According to the announcement of the United States, the action carried out by aircraft was accurate against several targets in the northeast of the country.
From American intelligence assessments it emerged that the attack on the drones was carried out by Iran.
And the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin added that the targets of the attack were linked to the Revolutionary Guards.
"We will use whatever means necessary to protect our people," Austin said.
"No one will harm our soldiers with impunity."
Earlier this week, the Syrian Ministry of Defense accused Israel of attacking Aleppo International Airport.
This is the third attack on the port in six months attributed to Israel, which has not responded to the reports.
According to the Syrian Ministry of Defense, on Wednesday morning, around 4:00, missiles were launched from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of the city of Latakia.
Earlier, explosions were reported in and around Aleppo, an area where there is a large presence of pro-Iranian militias.
Since last year, attacks in Syria have focused on the main airports, including the capital Damascus, through which Tehran tries to deliver weapons to the Assad regime and Hezbollah.
