According to a new survey, less than 40% of its constituents know it. Despite this relative anonymity, he would come first in the first round in the event of a new election.

Bruno Bernard, the president of the metropolis of Lyon, still remains relatively unknown to his constituents nearly three years after his election.

According to an

Ifop-Fiducial* survey commissioned by Lyon Capitale

, to the question: “

Can you name the current president of Lyon Métropole?

“, only 38% of respondents spontaneously mentioned his name.

Among those who do not know him, 6% cite Laurent Wauquiez as being the president of Grand Lyon, 5% Grégory Doucet and 46% do not comment.

Thus, while he is at the head of the most powerful local authority in Lyon, with a budget of 3.8 billion euros, Bruno Bernard remains less well identified than Grégory Doucet, the mayor of the city, known by 91 % of inhabitants according to a previous Ipsos survey for

Lyon Mag

.

Still according to the Ifop poll, 56% of respondents say they are satisfied with the action of the metropolitan executive since 2020 and particularly for its action on major urban projects (62%), the place of cycling (57%) and the public transport offer (56%).

Conversely, respondents are mostly dissatisfied with social policy (57%), housing (58%) and especially car traffic (72% dissatisfied).

Regarding this last point, 55% of the inhabitants of the metropolis say they are opposed to the traffic restrictions concerning diesel vehicles.

A criticism, it seems, heard by Bruno Bernard who, to everyone's surprise, announced to shift their two-year ban from 2026 to 2028.

Finally, Ifop asked the "great Lyonnais" for whom they would vote if the election took place this Sunday.

31% of respondents would have voted for the Nupes list, supported by Bruno Bernard, 24% for that of the Republicans of Philippe Cochet, 22% for the Renaissance list supported by David Kimelfeld and 15% for the National Rally list carried by Andréa Kotarac.

As a reminder, in 2020, the left lists had obtained nearly 37% of the cumulative votes ahead of LR (17.67%), the LREM list of Gérard Collomb (17.29%), that of the dissident LREM candidate David Kimelfeld (15 .75%) and that of the RN (7.67%).

* The survey was carried out online from March 10 to 16 with a sample of 800 people, including 716 registered on the electoral lists, representative of the population of the metropolis of Lyon aged 18 and over.
