Surprising personnel in the Weilheim city council: The deputy BfW parliamentary group leader Dr.
Claus Reindl is leaving the council at the end of May.
Weilheim - In the three years of the current legislative period, the work of the city council has "become more and more of a nervous strain" for him," 65-year-old Claus Reindl justified his application in a letter to Weilheim's mayor Markus Loth and his fellow councillors: "So I can't muster the strength, composure and motivation that would be required to exercise the office.” Florian Lechner (49) is expected to be his successor.
He helped shape the “Bürger für Weilheim” from the start
Reindl, who has three adult children and is a dentist by profession, has been a member of the board for 21 years.
He was a man from the start with the non-partisan voter group “Bürger für Weilheim” (BfW), which was newly founded in 2002 and won the mayoral post and a majority in the city council.
In the most recent local elections in 2020, Reindl ran for 15th place on the list, but was pre-selected in eighth place with 2751 votes.
After having acted as a traffic officer on the city council, he took over the department for indoor municipal properties with the current election period.
He is also a member of the climate committee and the board of directors of the municipal company Stadtwerke.
From 2014 to 2019, Reindl was parliamentary group leader of the BfW, since then he has acted as deputy.
With eight members, the "Bürger für Weilheim" are the largest faction in the city council, and they also provide the first mayor with Markus Loth.
Reindl wants to "clear the way for a motivated person"
In mid-February, Reindl asked the city council to "release me from my mandate for personal reasons and thus clear the way for a new and motivated person".
The board agreed unanimously on Thursday without questions.
It was also unanimously determined that Florian Lechner would succeed the BfW on the list.
The architect, father of two children, was a member of the city council from 2014 to 2020.
He is also known as the former chairman of the Beautification Association and as a co-founder of the Light Art Festival.
Meanwhile, Claus Reindl emphasized to the local newspaper that his decision had nothing to do with the BfW.
He will continue to work for the club there.
