Florian Striebl, parliamentary group leader of the Free Voters, calls for more support from the Free State for the planned Alpine bus route.

District

– In a letter to Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter, Florian Streibl asked for support “in this important matter”.

"It is with regret that I note that this major project has not yet left the planning phase," writes Streibl.

Furthermore, concerns would haunt municipal bodies, not least as far as long-term financing is concerned.

Further grants requested

As reported, the city of Rosenheim withdrew from the project a good year ago for cost reasons.

The districts of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Miesbach want to stick to the Alpenbus, but initially put the project behind the equally costly MVV membership.

Streibl linked his appeal, entitled "Alpenbus must go to the start", to several questions.

Among other things, the chairman of the Bernreiter parliamentary group wants to know whether there are other funding pots at state, federal or European level that can be “tapped” for the Alpenbus.

Streibl is also interested in the traffic relief potential that the Ministry of Transport sees in the line.

The member of parliament also asks: "What scope can the Free State of Bavaria create to promote this project, which spans several districts, even more?"

Rosenheim decides on Thursday

An answer is not expected in Streibl's office for a few weeks.

Before that – next Thursday – the Alpenbus is once again on the agenda in Rosenheim.

Most recently, the other districts involved were cautiously confident that there would be a rethink at the eastern end of the originally planned route.

The local newspaper reports promptly on the outcome of the deliberations in Rosenheim.
