Juan Román Riquelme and Martín Palermo
will once again share a playing field this afternoon, when they will participate in the match with which
Villarreal
, the Spanish club in which they both played two decades ago, will celebrate its centenary.
The meeting, in which five other Argentines will also take part, will begin
at 1:15 p.m. and can be seen through the Star+ platform
.
The Legends Party
, as it was presented by the organization, will be the highlight of a day in which 150 footballers who wore the Yellow Submarine shirt will also be honored.
The Estadio de la Cerámica, with a capacity for 22,000 spectators, is expected to be complete, since 20,000 tickets had been sold as of Friday.
Among those present will be Palermo and Riquelme, two of the most emblematic footballers who represented the club from the Valencian Community, although they did not coincide in a squad.
The striker joined in January 2001, shortly after the Intercontinental Cup final that Boca beat Real Madrid in Tokyo. He played 77 games, scored 18 goals and left for Betis in August 2003.
When Palermo was leaving, Riquelme was arriving, on loan from Barcelona.
In four years, the player played 142 games and scored 45 goals.

The last time Riquelme and Palermo set foot on the grass of a soccer field together was on July 9, 2015,
when they participated in Sebastián Battaglia's farewell match at La Bombonera
.
That day they shared the Blue team, led by Carlos Bianchi, who beat Amarillo 6-4 with two goals from Román and one from Titán.
In addition to the two former Boca players, five other Argentines with an outstanding past in Villarreal will give the present at the Estadio de la Cerámica: they will be
Juan Pablo Sorín, Gonzalo Rodríguez, Fabricio Coloccini, Mateo Musacchio and Mariano Barbosa.
All of them will make up the team of the club's legends, which will be led by Benito Floro and which will also include the Uruguayan
Diego Forlán
, the Frenchman Robert Pires and the Brazilian Marcos Senna, among others.
The Villarreal legends will face a team made up of ex-soccer players who wore the shirt of the Spanish team.
Led by José Antonio Camacho, Salva Ballesta, Jose Emilio Amavisca, David Albelda, Ferran Giner, Fernando Morientes, Iván Campo and Quique Setién (current Villarreal coach) will take to the pitch, among others.
