The Tax Authority announced a new initiative to review tax returns.

According to the Authority's announcement, approximately 150,000 green envelopes are being sent these days to citizens whose salary check for 2017 revealed that they have the potential for a tax refund.

Sending the envelopes at this time will allow them an extended period of time to check and submit a request for reimbursement, and will also allow, if necessary, to assist the training bureaus to fill out the request as well as the information center.

According to the Tax Authority, the initiatives for tax refunds by the Tax Authority's Assessment and Audit Division "express the Authority's goal of collecting real tax".

The Authority stated that it branded the envelopes and letters of the tax refunds in a light greenish color in order to distinguish them from regular mail of the Authority and to attract the attention of the recipients who have an envelope worth money in their hands.

During the current period, the Authority located about 150,000 citizens who did not submit applications for tax refunds for 2017, and from the examination of their salary reports it emerged that they may be entitled to a refund due to the fact that they paid excess tax for various reasons such as working for two employers, failure to prepare tax coordination, change in family status, etc. .

The recipients of the envelopes are invited, before submitting the request for a refund, to check their eligibility using the simulator and submit a request for a refund using the form attached to the envelope, until the end of December 2023. In addition to sending the letters, a

holistic support envelope was established, and the recipients of the letters who are interested in assistance can contact the Authority's Information and Services Center and the bureaus the training.

During this year, the authority is expected to send more green envelopes for additional tax changes.

During the last quarter of 2022, with the completion of the Authority's preparations for the move, about 75 thousand green envelopes were sent and so far more than NIS 30 million have been returned.

This is an interim amount since there are still requests for reimbursement in treatment procedures.
