For the first time since the launch of a justice reform that deeply divides Israel, a divergent voice is publicly heard within the government of Benjamin Netanyahu.
It is that of Yoav Gallant, the Minister of Defence.
On Saturday, as hundreds of thousands of Israelis marched for the twelfth week in a row, he called for the legislative process to be suspended.
By thus taking a position, at the risk of losing his post, Yoav Gallant did not specifically express himself against the reform on the merits.
In a very tense security context, faced with a movement of refusal of the reservists which could jeopardize the functioning of the Israeli army, he affirms to act in a pragmatic way, as he made a point of explaining it Saturday evening.
