Mauricio Macri
announced that
he will not run
for president in this year's elections.
He did it through a video that he posted on his social media.
The former president asked to be "attentive" and stressed that Together for Change overcame complex moments, highlighted the unity of the space and assured that it has competitive candidates.
"I want to ratify the decision that I will not be a candidate in the next election and I am convinced that we must enlarge the political space for the change that we are initiating," he said.
The former president also took a hard shot at the figure of Alberto Fernández by assuring that Argentines are not going to allow themselves to be "trampled" by populism in the next election.
"We are never going to have a puppet for president again," he said.
