The vital prognosis is engaged for one of the demonstrators injured during the violent clashes which took place on Saturday during a demonstration against agricultural water reserves in Deux-Sèvres, confirmed Sunday the parquet floor of Niort.
An investigation has been opened "
to determine the exact nature
" of the serious injuries of a total of three demonstrators and "
the circumstances in which
" these people were injured, said prosecutor Julien Wattebled in a press release.

The organizers of the demonstration had been saying since Saturday that one of them was between life and death, without this having been confirmed by the authorities until then.
According to a new report established by the prosecution at 1 p.m. with the emergency services and hospitals, 29 gendarmes were injured, including two placed in absolute emergency without their vital prognosis being engaged, one touched in the groin, the other with respiratory trauma.

According to the same source, seven demonstrators were taken care of by the emergency services, three of them in absolute emergency: a 30-year-old man with a head injury, "whose life prognosis remains at this stage

a 19-year-old woman with facial trauma and a 27-year-old man with a foot fracture.
According to the organizers, 200 demonstrators were injured, 40 of them seriously, during the violent clashes which broke out near the construction site of the Sainte-Soline basin.
The balance sheet, still "
provisional
", provided by the prosecution only covers those who were taken care of by the emergency services, which may explain the significant difference between the figures.

Checks are underway to determine whether other people have presented themselves spontaneously in hospitals
," said the prosecutor.
