, Yaël Braun-Pivet denounced
the “extreme violence”
of certain
“individuals”
present during the rally against “mega-basins” in Sainte-Soline on Saturday.
“Hundreds of people came to fight, to hurt, to insult, to break the Republic,”
she lamented, referring to attempts at
“guerrilla warfare”
.
The President of the National Assembly called on the French to have
"a thought"
for the gendarmes injured during the clashes.
“Our law enforcement agencies are today ramparts to protect our public freedoms and to protect the Republic”
, she assured.
Yaël Braun-Pivet took the opportunity to criticize these elected officials – mainly from Nupes – present on the spot when the demonstration was prohibited.
"It bothers me that elected officials defy the law, break it and put themselves in contradiction with the mandate which is theirs",
she underlined, recalling that
"when we are elected, we are not above above the law”
.
An “indispensable” reform
Regarding the mobilization against the endless pension reform, the President of the National Assembly wished to salute
"the unions which have been exemplary in the management of their mobilization"
, again targeting
"factious individuals"
responsible overflows.
"I would not want these hundreds of individuals, who come to destroy everything, to undermine our freedoms"
, including that of
"protest"
, she said.
She also wants to resume
discussions with the union forces
as soon as possible .
Despite the challenges, Yaël Braun-Pivet nevertheless believes that this reform remains
“indispensable”
, judging that
“we cannot finance pensions on debt”.
“I think of our young people.
I don't want us to pay their grandparents' retirement today with the debt they will repay tomorrow
," she insisted.
If she nevertheless admits that it would
"probably have been necessary to do differently"
to carry out this reform, the President of the Assembly regrets all this
"conflictuality"
.
“I think we need to collectively question our inability to find points of agreement on this type of subject”.
The macronist, however, thinks that it would be a
“mistake”
to delete article 49.3, as claimed by some elected representatives of the opposition.
"We consider, constantly, that we need an instrument to be able to avoid an absolute blockage of our institutions and the functioning of our Republic
," she explained.
Yaël Braun-Pivet also noted
"the loosening link between the French and their elected officials"
, regretting an
"unleashing of violence"
.
She herself revealed that she had received threatening letters against her and her family, reading one of an anti-Semitic nature.
“When you go into politics, you go because you have convictions.
Never, by committing myself, I thought that I would have to suffer anti-Semitism, sexism and violence, ”
she regretted.
