The Madres de Plaza de Mayo University Institute will have a
new headquarters in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Caballito
, which was assigned to it this Monday by a Resolution of the State Assets Administration Agency (AABE).
This is the building located at Avenida Rivadavia 4615, which has a plot of 282 square meters and a total covered area of 993 square meters, which until now
belonged to the General Staff of the Navy.
According to Resolution 39/2023, signed by the president and vice president of the AABE, Eduardo Albanese and Juan Debandi, this property will be the headquarters of the
National University Institute of Human Rights "Madres de Plaza de Mayo" (IUNMA).
The agreement for its transfer was signed on February 26, when it was reported that
"the first unique and permanent headquarters of IUNMA will be installed there
, which will allow the development of academic activities with three main lines of action: university education in rights human rights, literacy and training in contexts of confinement, and the carrying out of extracurricular activities related to this subject for the general public", it was indicated in an official statement.
On that occasion,
the authorities of the AABE, Albanese and Debandi participated in
the signing of the agreement ;
while the organizing rector Gustavo Scrinzi, the vice rector María Elena Patzer, the general secretary Jacobo Grossman, the academic secretary Silvia Bon and the administrative secretary Eduardo Maurizzio did so for IUNMA.

However, the Institute of Mothers
already inaugurated another headquarters last year,
which was also ceded by the Government, in a building on Bolivar 119, a few meters from Plaza de Mayo.
"For us, inaugurating this new headquarters, together with the return of the students in person, is a relevant event on the path of truth, memory and justice, a flag that the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo have bequeathed to us," he said

On that occasion, the minister reported the growth in enrollment
, which in two years had gone from 500 students to more than 3,000.
And Rector Screnzi recalled that, in mid-2020, "it was possible to glimpse the non-existence of adequate classroom spaces to carry out academic activities."
The Popular University of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo
opened its doors in the year 2000

But since its inception, it has been plagued by numerous debts and lawsuits, which led to its nationalization in 2014, by the government of
Cristina Kirchner
, when it was renamed the "Mothers of Plaza de Mayo" National University Institute for Human Rights;
and then, in 2017,
it was intervened by the government of Mauricio Macri.
The IUNMA has autarky -but not autonomy-
, in the orbit of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, headed by Martín Soria.
It grants law degrees, degrees in History, Social Work and Communication, as well as a teaching staff in History, with their respective Research Centers.

But the Institute still does not have the status of a University
to grant qualifying titles, since the authorization to operate is still pending.
For this reason, the degree in Social Work, for example, is processed through an agreement with the National University of San Martín.
Kirchnerism is promoting bills for the creation of several national universities, which already have an opinion from the Education and Budget and Finance commissions in the Chamber of Deputies.

The transfer of land to the MTE
The transfer of State assets already caused a strong controversy last Saturday,
due to the delivery of a 140-hectare field in El Marquesado
, facing the sea, in the southern area of Mar del Plata, based on an agreement between the AABE and the Third Time Civil Association, of the Movement of Excluded Workers (MTE).
This led to clashes between neighbors and some 50 militants from the organization led by Juan Grabois, when on Saturday they went to take possession of those lands for an "
agroecological production project"
, which includes orchards, cattle raising and housing construction.
The mayor Guillermo Montenegro stated that "what is happening in the area of El Marquesado
is extremely serious.
Because while the people of Mar del Plata work to progress and make the city grow, others propose to give away land, for partisan political purposes, doing things totally illegitimate way."
In the same sense, former President Mauricio Macri expressed himself: "Total repudiation of the situation of El Marquesado, where
the Grabois movement tries once again to usurp land with the complicity of the Government
