Four months ago, the group Walla!

And the Lottery Factory in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Welfare and the "Veterans at Work" program jointly launched a unique project aimed at raising awareness of the integration of senior citizens into the employment market.

Although in recent years there has been an increase in the employment rate of older workers in the employment market in Israel, it was clear that there is still room for striving.

The project began with the understanding that the employment of senior citizens contributes to both employees and employers, but only as part of the project did it become clear how vital a move it is, from which everyone benefits.

The senior citizens who chose to continue working even at retirement age revealed their inspiring story;

Some of them work in the same field that they have been engaged in all their lives, others have undergone professional retraining, and there were even those who integrated into the high-tech industry, contrary to the stigmas that exist on senior citizens.

The older workers shared the many benefits they derive from integrating into the employment market - work gives them a reason to get up in the morning, gives them a sense of vitality and satisfaction, allows them to enjoy a good standard of living and also contributes to their physical and mental health.

The companies that employ senior citizens also told how much they enjoy a combination of people aged 60 and over with young workers.

The employers testified to the many advantages of the older workers who come with experience, extensive professional knowledge, high reliability, a strong work ethic, productivity and job stability.

In addition, it was found that the age diversity at work contributes to increasing creativity and innovation in the team and to the preservation of organizational knowledge.

Among the companies that took part in the project was Shufersal, which opened dozens of jobs for senior citizens, and even expanded to do so when it held a workshop for enrichment and self-branding for senior citizens.

The Municipality of Haifa, Electra Group, Home Center, Beit Eckstein, Soda Stream, Tafen, Takshov, Cellcom and the Chames Israel association have also opened a wide range of jobs for senior citizens.

The close support of the "Veterans at Work" program

as part of the project, hundreds of employers who were looking for quality workers registered for the program and offered jobs to those 60 and older.

Those employers were given the opportunity to enjoy age diversity at work alongside experienced and senior employees.

The companies that offered jobs to senior citizens received close support from the "Veterans at Work" program - a government program of the Ministry of Social Equality, which includes matching the position to veterans, searching for candidates, sorting the candidates and referring them to the companies, all at no cost.

After only four months, "Veterans at Work" helped integrate dozens of senior citizens in the leading companies in the economy and in a variety of positions.
