The Loisach-Kochelsee-Moore is one of the largest contiguous wetlands in Germany.

To protect endangered bird species, there will be a ban on entry again until mid-July.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

– To protect rare and highly endangered bird species such as the curlew, whinchat, stonechat and lapwing, the annual ban on entering the Loisach-Kochelsee-Moore meadow breeding area has been in effect since Monday and up to and including July 15th.

This is reported by the district office.

During this time, the area may only be entered on selected paths and dogs must be on a leash.

The paths are marked on the information boards on site and can also be viewed on the homepage of the district office (www.lra-toelz.de, search term: "Wiesenbrüter").

The Loisach-Kochelsee-Moore extend along the Loisach from Kochelsee to Penzberg.

With an area of around 4000 square meters, they are among the largest contiguous wetlands in Germany.

Large areas with only a few trees and shrubs

The area is characterized by large areas with only a few trees and shrubs.

The Loisach-Kochelsee moors therefore have an important function as a breeding ground for rare and highly endangered bird species not only locally, but also for Central Europe.

The ground-nesting bird species need precisely these open areas.

Since the birds breed unprotected in the open meadow and raise their young, the birds can easily be disturbed if people or dogs get too close to the nest.

If the breeding birds are disturbed, the offspring are seriously endangered.

To protect the animals, it is therefore of great importance that the regulations are observed.

The nature conservation watch controls this on site.
