Snails in the garden are a thorn in the side of every flower and vegetable lover.
In our picture gallery you will find ten methods that really promise success in combating them.
Not every snail is equally to be feared in the garden.
In contrast to the Spanish slug, the real culprit in the vegetable patch, most snails, such as the Roman snail or ribbon snail, have a larger diet.
They also sit in the compost and do useful gardening there by utilizing dead plant matter.
Therefore, they are not considered pests.
Slugs like the Spanish slug or field slugs, on the other hand, can manage three meters in an hour and can cause a lot of damage along the way.
For example, a beer trap in the bed is worth a try, but it also attracts snails from all over the area.
Good alternatives are mechanical barriers or deterrent plants, so that the animals do not even get too close to the vegetables.
Slug pellets should only be a last resort.
