Starnberg

– heroes help, heroes are brave, heroes sacrifice themselves.

With their spring concert, the Starnberg town band, conducted by Bernd von Hösslin, musically focused on a wide variety of rescuers of people in need.

Under the motto "Heroes like us" with opulent sound and action-packed soundtracks, the musicians gave their concert guests wings and supernatural powers for more than two hours.

The second part of the concert after the break was performed by "Windgang", the youth wind orchestra of the Starnberg Music School.

An hour before the main concert, Stefan Komareck and his Big Band STArs really heated up the guests in the vestibule, who acknowledged the rousing game with lively applause and came into the actual concert elated.

In the concert hall, on the stage decorated with flowers, von Hösslin and his brass and percussionists ignited a musical firework display with the sublime fanfare sounds of "The Olympic Spirit", which John Williams had composed for the 1988 Olympic Games in South Korea, at the actual start of the concert.

Inspired by the Olympic spirit, Jan de Haan continued with Overture to a New Age.

The repertoire was multifaceted and dramaturgically well arranged.

The plays did justice to a wide variety of heroes.

"Back to the Future"

the soundtrack to the 80s blockbuster of the same name is like a hymn to the salvation of mankind.

One of the highlights of the first part was "Around the World in 80 days" by Otto M. Schwarz.

Praise from the Musikbund Ober- und Niederbayern

"Heroes impress us," said chairman Johannes Kreissl, explaining the motto of the evening.

"They give us a good feeling and hope." The first board of directors expressly welcomed the guests of honor, the mayors Angelika Kammerl and Christiane Falk, district administrator Stefan Frey, pastor Dr.

Bruno Kasongo and Arthur Keck as representatives of the Musikbund Ober- und Niederbayern.

"It's nice to see the level at which the Starnbergers play music," praised Keck and honored Jonathan Beck, Katharina Mahr and Emanuel Liebich for 15 years of active music-making in the club.

Christine Cichos and Tobias Fuchs received the badge of honor for 25 years.

Oliver Beck and Emmy Girbinger were honored for 40 years.

Andreas Weidner was honored for 50 years of service to brass band music, he also received the Medal of Merit for 15 years as secretary.

After the break it was the youth wind orchestra's turn.

The little ones, who were often barely half a meter taller than their instrument, heartily interpreted Robert Sheldon's "Hawkeye Overture" and Paul Murtha's "Legend of Castle Armagh".

Obviously her thing was "Smoke on the Water" as a musical pop treat.

There was huge applause for the very remarkable musical commitment.

The highlights of the "big ones" in the second part included the "Forrest Gump Suite" with brilliant arrangements by Alan Silvestri as well as James Horner's "Avatar Soundtrack Highlights".

Of course, "Batman" and "Superman" could not be missing as musical heroes.

There were two encores, including "Skyfall", the soundtrack of the Bond thriller of the same name.

It was a special Saturday evening with high quality musical entertainment.
