President Yitzhak Herzog called this morning (Monday) to stop the legislative process as part of the legal revolution immediately.

"I appeal to the heads of all Knesset factions, coalition and opposition alike, to put the citizens of the country above all, and to act responsibly and courageously without further delay. Come to your senses now! This is not a political moment, this is a moment for leadership and responsibility," he said.

Meanwhile, the consultations in Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's office continued almost until the morning light.

Following the sharp public reaction to the dismissal notice of Defense Minister Yoav Galant, pressure began last night in Likud, the coalition and the Prime Minister's circle to announce an immediate halt to the legislation, however Justice Minister Yariv Levin fought a restraining battle in his opposition to any halt, with the backing of Otzma Yehudit and religious Zionism.

Following this, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to address the public later today.

The heads of the coalition are expected to gather this morning at 09:00 for a crucial meeting that will deal with the question of whether to stop the legal reform legislation until the summer session of the Knesset in about two months.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the heads of Shas and Torah Judaism as well as some Likud ministers support stopping the process, but Justice Minister Yariv Levin, Otzma Yehudit and religious Zionism oppose it. So far no decision has been made despite the nightly discussions in the Prime Minister's Office. The Constitution Committee is chaired by MK

Simcha Rothman is expected to convene this morning at 08:00 to approve the proposal to change the composition of the committee for the selection of judges for the second and third reading, but if it is finally decided in the coalition to stop the legislation - the proposal will not be brought to the Knesset plenum for approval as planned.
