In detective language, this is called an "incidental" seizure.
In other words, this is a completely coincidental catch.
In fact, last Friday, the agents of the Departmental Security of the Alpes-Maritimes were surprised to uncover some seven kilos of herbal cannabis, four kilos of resin and more than 400 grams of cocaine in a box in the sensitive district. des Moulins, to the west of Nice.
Information confirmed this Monday at Le
Figaro
by several police sources.
If the Moulins have the unfortunate reputation of being a crossroads of drugs on the scale of the department, it is not - at least this time - what pushed the agents of the Security to go there on Friday, at the end of the day.
The latter intervened after gunshots were heard in the city.
“They were carrying out their investigations when they smelled a strong smell of cannabis which escaped from a box”
, explains a police officer.
And it was by sliding an eye through the metal door of the garage in question that they had confirmation that their sense of smell had not deceived them.

A scourge that resists
“If the discovery had been made by the judicial police, I would have told you that it was banal. But for the Sûreté, of which it is not the heart of business, it is a very good catch”
, greets a colleague.
No one was arrested at the scene.
An investigation has been opened and investigations are still ongoing to identify the owners of the seized goods.
Last November, several kilos of drugs had already been discovered at Les Moulins.
If anti-narcotics or security operations are carried out almost weekly in the district, the scourge of drug trafficking resists.
A "
gangrene [...] which comes to rot the life of people
", analyzed the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes, Bernard Gonzales, at the beginning of January, on the occasion of one of these operations "punches".
