Two knives stuck in the back and
22 stab wounds
This is how Adrián Enrique Muñoz (74) was found, who in May 2021 was robbed and murdered in his apartment in the Núñez neighborhood.
Now, the Justice sentenced
the two young women involved
in the attack to life imprisonment.
Rocío Celeste Barreto Vera,
22 years old;
Ariana Belén Domínguez
, 21, who were convicted as co-authors of the "
doubly aggravated homicide
for having been committed with cruelty and to facilitate, commit another crime and seek impunity, in ideal competition with the crime of robbery with weapons".
Thus, the Oral Criminal and Correctional Court (TOC) 20 of the City, made up of judges Patricia Gabriela Mallo, Sabrina Namer and Walter Cavassa, reached that decision after a trial that ended last Monday.
Both convicts, who had come to the debate detained with preventive detention, will serve their sentence in the
Ezeiza IV Penitentiary Complex
Adrián Enrique Muñoz (74) was murdered in May 2021 in his apartment in Núñez.
As established by the magistrates, the two women murdered the retiree to
steal money and some valuable belongings
, and then they were filmed by different security cameras, leaving the building with bags.
Both Barreto Vera and Domínguez were implicated since they had visited Muñoz's home a week before the event.
The photos were sent by the victim to a relative.
That and a series of videos from security cameras were the key so that, a few days after the crime,
both women were arrested
by detectives from the Homicide Division of the City Police and by the Buenos Aires police, in the district of La Matanza, in where they were from.
The macabre discovery of Muñoz's body
Muñoz's body was found on May 11, 2021 in his 2nd apartment.
"A" of a building on Calle Ciudad de la Paz 3397, in Núñez, by her own daughter, who went to her father's home because there was no news about him.
His brother had told him that during the last two days, the man had not gone to work and that, when he had gone to the apartment in the morning to ring the bell, no one had answered him.
Adrián Enrique Muñoz was 74 years old and regularly played tennis at River.
Muñoz's daughter, who had a set of keys, passed by in the afternoon, entered the apartment, and was met with horror: her father murdered in her bedroom.
There, she immediately called the police.
The retiree, who played tennis in the Senior category in River, was found naked, face down on the floor of his bedroom and had two knives stuck in his back, as well as multiple cuts and punctures all over his body.
As confirmed by police sources, the apartment was missing the victim's cell phone, money and various valuables.
According to judicial sources, the forensic experts at the judicial morgue established that Muñoz suffered
22 stab wounds
and that the cause of death was bleeding from those wounds.
The investigation of the prosecutor Campagnoli and the arrest of the two young women from La Matanza
The investigation into the robbery and crime was headed by prosecutor
José María Campagnoli,
from the Saavedra-Núñez District Prosecutor's Office, who summoned detectives from the Homicide Division of the City Police for the investigation.
There progress was made with the statements of three neighbors, whose testimonies guided the investigation towards Barreto Vera and Domínguez, the young women from La Matanza.
The last image of Adrián Enrique Muñoz arriving at his apartment in Núñez accompanied by two women.
Based on a video and the testimony of a first neighbor, it was established that Muñoz entered the building with two young people (both implicated) around 7:30 p.m. on May 10.
A second witness reported that around 10:30 p.m. that same day, he heard noises coming from the 2nd.
"A", but that he didn't pay too much attention because he then heard the bathroom shower start.
A third resident of the building confirmed to the investigators that a relative of his told him that the next day, around 2:30 p.m., he saw two women with suitcases leave the building using the key to the main door, which caught his attention because I did not know them as neighbors, nor as relatives of any of the owners.
In this sense, it was the victim's own daughter who first recounted that her father used to bring women with whom he had occasional relationships to his home.
