Guest of France 5 on Monday evening, the Minister of the Interior wanted to recall that he has "sanctioned many police and gendarmerie officials" since he has been at the Ministry of the Interior.

It's rare enough to be stressed.

While the basins of Sainte-Soline (Deux-Sèvres) were the site of violent clashes between demonstrators and peacekeepers on Saturday, the Minister of the Interior made a mea culpa in the organization of the maintenance

of

the order, which has aroused a good deal of political and associative criticism for two days.

Guest of France 5 Monday evening, Gérald Darmanin wanted to respond to Patrick Baudouin, president of the League of Human Rights who castigated

"a real escalation of violent police repression"

and "

the excessive use of tear gas canisters, of disencirclement (...) which is not at the level of a democracy.

»

In Sainte-Soline, orders were not fully respected,

recognized the first cop in France.

These quads, which we see arriving, were used to throw tear gas canisters to repel people.

There were two LBD launchers, it is totally prohibited, these gendarmes will be suspended.

" For the Minister of the Interior, if the police and the gendarmerie must "

respect the rules of employment and ethics

", the police must be sanctioned like "

any official who makes a mistake.

The opportunity to respond to the taunts of his detractors according to which the minister would not be firm enough in the face of the shortcomings of his troops:

"I have sanctioned many police and gendarmerie officials for the three years that I have been at the Ministry of Interior.”

On the eve of a new day of mobilization against the pension reform, for which the tenant of Place Beauvau has planned an "

unprecedented security device"

against 1,000 radical individuals, Gérald Darmanin recalled that nearly 900 police and gendarmes have been injured for a week.

“When the police and gendarmes are so injured it is because they take a lot of blows, they take a lot of projectiles”,

continues the minister.

Who does not hesitate to go on a more political ground.

"

Everyone should unanimously say to themselves 'let's support the police and the gendarmes, punish people who do not respect the uniform and their honor and also let's attack the Ministry of the Interior...' But that's is normal, I play politics

”, puts Gérald Darmanin into perspective.

And to add: “

The vast majority of police officers are fathers and mothers (…) who take it seriously [face] because they are attacked politically.
