Three boys and two adults (including the shooter) were killed
after a
shooting at a
private Christian elementary school in Nashville, authorities said Monday.
Nashville police said they had responded to a school shooting Monday and confirmed the shooter was killed.
"We can now confirm that
three children and two adults
from the school shooting were taken to our Emergency department and the pediatric department at Carell J. Monroe Children's Hospital," said John Howser, a spokesman for the medical center.
"All five patients were pronounced dead."
The spokesman did not provide the age and identity of the victims.
33 teachers work
on the attacked campus
with a ratio of 8 boys per teacher.
The minors were taken alive to the health center with gunshot wounds and
died shortly after

Authorities initially indicated that there were
multiple victims

Three children were later reported dead.
"An active shooting took place at the Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr.," Nashville police said in a tweet.
"Shooter was attacked by MNPD and is dead."
“We can confirm that we have
several patients.
Parents coming to the school should go to 20 Burton Hills at this time.
This is an active scene," the fire department tweeted.
The students were evacuated and had to walk to safety to a nearby church to meet their parents.
Convent
is a private Christian school in Nashville
for preschool through sixth grade, CBS affiliate WTVF reported.
Last year, the school conducted an active shooter training program, the station reported.
As reported by CBS, special agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were also involved in the response.
"At the request of District Attorney General Glenn Funk, TBI Special Agents and additional personnel are responding to the scene of this morning's school shooting in Green Hills," the agency tweeted.
"As indicated by @MNPDNashville, there is no current threat to public safety."
So far this year, there have been
at least 30 reported incidents
involving firearms in schools in the United States, which have left eight dead and 23 injured, according to data from the organization Everytown for Gun Safety.
