The event of the Popular Party last Saturday in Madrid was attended, in addition to that of the national president of the party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso and the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez Almeida , from different speakers from the Hispanic community in Spain.
However, the intervention that has caused the most stir has been that of Yadira Maestre, an ultra-conservative evangelical pastor of Colombian origin.
As can be seen in the video that accompanies this news item, the pastor ended her speech by praying for the popular leaders and invoking God's protection to extend over them.
The spokesperson for the Federal Executive of the PSOE and Minister of Education, Pilar Alegría, referred today to the act at the press conference held after the party's Electoral Committee and criticized the PP for mixing religion and politics: "This praying before of a political act sounds very old, it sounds like other times (...) They were former leaders of the right who mixed religion and politics, in this the PP also yearns to resemble Vox ”.
It is not the first time that Maestre, founder of the 'Church of Christ Comes' in the Usera neighborhood, and the Popular Party have met.
In June of last year, the evangelist pastor visited the party headquarters in Genoa 13 and invited Ayuso's number two, Alfonso Serrano, to an act to collect an award for the president and Martínez Almeida.
