After a deadly attack in Tübingen, Mayor Boris Palmer immediately spoke up.
The Greens politician is now being criticized for this by the SPD.
Tübingen - It's almost a reflex action.
If a person dies violently in Germany and a refugee plays a role in it, Boris Palmer does not miss the opportunity to link the incident to refugee policy.
Like last week, when a man fatally injured a 23-year-old in Tübingen's botanical garden.
The victim is a Gambian.
Reason enough for Tübingen's mayor to open a completely different barrel in addition to mourning just one day after the fact.
He explained via Facebook that the crime scene was a "place of the open drug scene, which is mainly run by refugees from Gambia."

It said on its website: "We firmly reject the fact that this act is openly politicized and instrumentalized, without all the backgrounds being known."
The party further condemned that Palmer "automatically infers criminal circumstances from the victim's origin".
In doing so, Palmer reveals “his own racist world view”.
The assumption that the act would not have happened "if 'criminal asylum seekers were not accommodated in our cities' is a hideous reversal of guilt, which ultimately makes the victim jointly responsible for the act," read the SPD statement.

"That such statements do not come from the AfD..."
Finally, it also said: “It is frightening that such statements do not come from the AfD or even further to the right, but from the Tübingen city leadership.
No one denies integration challenges.
But this behavior is unworthy of a mayor and we condemn it.”
It is not the first time that the Green politician has made racist statements.
Palmer once railed against a black person who, in his opinion, had ridden a bike too boldly, about which
