A Great Dane became a super mom after giving birth to 21 puppies in the span of 27 hours.
Namine, a 2-year-old Great Dane, went into labor last Wednesday, according to CNN affiliate WVVA.
The big dog belongs to Tanya Dubbs of Pocahontas, Virginia, reports WVVA.
It took her a total of 27 hours to finish bringing a total of 21 puppies into the world,
although unfortunately two died shortly after birth.
The puppies weighed just under half a kilo each: 0.45 kg.
The owner said she plans to sell the pups once they are weaned.
For the dog's owners, the number of puppies was a real surprise.
According to the vets, Namine was going to have a maximum of 13 or 14 puppies.
"So we got to 16 and then she had another and another," Tanya told CNN.
The woman said she plans to sell the pups once they are weaned by their mother.
Smaller breed bitches can have from one to 12 puppies.
But Great Danes tend to have more pups in proportion to their larger size.
