A 15-year-old high school student was taken into police custody as part of the investigation into the fire which damaged the facade of the Raymond Queneau high school in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, near Lille, on Monday, resulting in a day of suspension of classes, we learned from the prosecution.
No injuries

An investigation has been carried out by the head of damage by fire or dangerous means
”, Lille prosecutor Carole Étienne told AFP, specifying that the fire started “
from a barricade made up of shopping carts, pallets and mattresses
” before spreading to the entrance of the high school.

One of the defendants, a high school student, aged 15 and a half, was identified, arrested and placed in police custody
” on Monday, she added, recalling that the penalty incurred for this type of act is 10 years imprisonment and 150,000 euros fine.
The fire degraded the facade of the building on two floors.
According to the Academy of Lille, "
a group of individuals outside the school would have set fire
" very early Monday morning.
Fifteen people were evacuated, but the fire caused no injuries.
