The Reithofen-Harthofen fire brigade now had an animal mission: A cat was stuck in a tree – for days.
Reithofen - It's the mission that shouldn't be missing in any children's book: the fire brigade saves a cat from a tree.
A call received by Thomas Huber, commander of the Reithofen-Harthofen fire brigade on Saturday, was very real: A concerned citizen reported that a cat had been sitting in a tree for several days and could no longer come down.
Clear case for the Reithofener Wehr: We have to help here.
Rainer Stankus (picture on the right) climbed up a long ladder around 2.30 p.m., carrying a cat basket with him.
At a dizzy height, he managed to bring the house cat to safety.
On their Facebook page, the fire brigade points out that cats themselves are usually able to come down from higher heights.
But in this case, the animal seems to have taken on too much.
The day before, the Reithofen weir had to avert an environmental hazard.
Two weeks ago, a vehicle caught fire at the roundabout.
Even then there was a risk that oil and fuel could have gotten into the Lohgraben, which was dry at the time.
That's exactly what happened.
This became obvious after it rained on Friday and the ditch filled with water.
The fire brigade brought in oil barriers and prevented worse things from happening.
