After an attack on a family with a machete and a dead man, the police had to launch a major operation.
But maybe it wasn't a homicide, it was a medical emergency.
Only an autopsy could clarify that.
A man died in a family dispute in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
His wife and son were injured on Tuesday night, police said.
The 49-year-old man is said to have attacked his wife in the apartment on Forster Strasse with a machete.
The 20-year-old son is said to have intervened.
"The son was slightly injured in the scramble and the father collapsed." Alarmed rescue workers could only determine the death of the father, according to the police.
At first, the cause of death was not clear.
It could also have been a medical cause, it said.
An autopsy should clarify that.
A homicide detective is investigating.
"The mother and son were taken to a hospital for treatment, which they were then able to leave."
The incident is said to have taken place around 0.15 a.m.
The police were in action with a large contingent.
Photos from the newspaper "BZ" showed how a corpse was transported away at night and the injured were taken to a hospital.
