(ANSA) - VARESE, MARCH 28 - Twelve hectares of woods have gone up in smoke due to a vast fire that is engulfing the houses in Montenegrino Valtravaglia (Varese), fueled by strong winds during the night.
Several teams of firefighters worked all night to protect the houses.
Teams from the offices of Luino, Varese, Ispra, Laveno Mombello, SommaLombardo, Busto and Gallarate alternated with four fire engines, five fire-fighting off-road vehicles and two tankers, over thirty firefighters engaged.
The flame front reached two kilometers in length.
Two Canadairs from the national air fleet are arriving.
