It's still a long way to the creative quarter on the Aumühlen site.

Fürstenfeldbruck

– In the future, a creative district is to be built on the Aumühlen site.

Until then, a lot of water will flow down the adjacent Amper.

A temporary use study in the past showed what could be created on the site for a short or longer period: for example, music bars, summer beer gardens or places to linger and dip your feet along the Amper.

But temporary use is still a thing of the future.

At the moment things are progressing a little on the Aumühlen site, at least behind the city library.

The garages of the residents there have been demolished for a few days.

Site fences have already been erected for this purpose and the old walls have been covered with tarpaulins.

The parking spaces for library visitors have not been affected by the construction work so far.

After the replanning last year, these are only diagonally behind the city library and are designated for visitors to the facility.

The additional parking spaces on the forecourt have disappeared - there, as part of the car-free Sunday in autumn, the square was creatively decorated with a drawing on the ground.

In the city administration, in the real estate management department responsible, it is expected that the demolition of the old garages will soon be completed.

After that, the area including the parking spaces behind the city library will be reorganized.

Diana Rupprecht, head of the city library, welcomes the measures taken around the Aumühle.

This is the only way the entire area can grow together and become more attractive, especially for pedestrians.

She also advocates a proposal from the planning committee that construction fences and other barriers that have been in the vicinity of the library for a long time be removed, said Rupprecht at the most recent culture committee meeting: "The site can only get going if you Breaks down barriers," said the head of the city library.
