It was by evoking the judgment of Solomon that Benyamin Netanyahu started Monday evening a speech that all of Israel was waiting for.
Speaking at the end of an explosive 24 hours, he first quoted this famous passage from the Bible in which the king proposes to cut in two the baby claimed by two women.
The child is Israel and "King Bibi", as his supporters call him, explained that, similar to the true mother in the Bible, "an overwhelming majority of the citizens
of Israel refused to cut the nation in two ".
This is why he took the decision to suspend a judicial reform which, in three months, brought the country to the brink of implosion.
This decision cost Benyamin Netanyahu dearly.
His government, in power since the end of December, almost flew a shard.
In the Knesset, the strong coalition that Netanyahu was able to put together showed the first signs of division.
It emerges from the crisis weakened in the polls.
