Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir informed the court that he is withdrawing the lawsuit against the police, who he claims violated his immunity and freedom of movement, after they forbade him to walk through the Nablus Gate on one of the days of May in 2022. This was learned today (Tuesday) by Walla!.

Also, the minister withdrew his demand for compensation in the amount of NIS 200,000.

"In the circumstances of the matter, it would be correct to withdraw the letter of the claim," said Ben Gabir's representative.

This is a lawsuit submitted to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court in May of last year by Minister Ben Gabir and the Otzma Yehudit faction, which prevented them from holding the flag march they had initiated towards the Western Wall through the Nablus Gate.

According to the indictment, when he arrived with his operatives at the IDF Square near the Old City, Ben Gabir was blocked by the police and was prevented from moving to the Nablus Gate.

The former commander of the Zion Region, Sub-Commander Kobi Yacovi, who has since been appointed as Ben Gvir's security secretary, was present at the time of the incident and told the minister that "Your arrival at the Nablus gate has been prohibited, and I, by virtue of my position and authority, prevent it from you and ask you to respect this decision."

According to Ben Gvir, "it is an illegal instruction that was carried out without authority and without exercising any discretion", an instruction that, according to him, constitutes a violation of his immunity as a member of the Knesset.

However, in the last few days, less than a year later, a summary request was submitted to the court to delete the lawsuit signed by Minister Ben Gabir's lawyer and the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office.

"The plaintiffs are honored to announce that, noting that after the filing of the lawsuit, the plaintiff was appointed to the position of Minister of National Security, under the circumstances of the matter and the circumstances discussed in this specific case, it would be correct to withdraw the letter of the lawsuit and order its deletion. The plaintiffs undertake not to file any further lawsuits in connection with the facts of the subject of the lawsuit." Written.

Along with the withdrawal of the lawsuit against the police in this matter, Ben Gvir continues to conduct another lawsuit against the police that he also filed last year, and this for a police officer's instruction to the police officers who were near the "office" that Ben Gvir established in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood - to leave the place and leave Ben Gvir Alone together with his two security guards, despite the threats he received from Arabs who were there.
