Preview: Maison Delano Paris opens the doors of its first hotel in Europe

2023-03-28T14:06:40.199Z

A stone's throw from the Élysée Palace and the American and British embassies opens in a mansion, formerly occupied by the Buddha Bar Hotel, this new cocoon on the Right Bank and little brother of the one born in 1995 in Miami. We pushed open the doors.

The district is naturally the quietest in Paris, because the most guarded of the capital, presidency of the Republic obliges.

Rue d'Anjou is one of those very pretty streets that originate on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré and in which the famous artery radiates its elegance.

You enter this neoclassical private mansion through a monumental porch where carriages once rushed.

The almost non-existent lobby gives the impression of grandeur one would expect.

A frosted glass separates two tiny offices, which serve as reception.

Things look better on the upper floors, where wide and very airy corridors, with beautiful volumes, lead to the 56 rooms including 19 suites.

Not one of them offers less than 30 M2 of surface area, a luxury for the district and for Paris.

Refined decoration

Let's push the door of a room, brown parquet, white wall, cream curtain, a mix of pretty materials such as wood, lacquer, linen and wallpaper with almost imperceptible relief.

Two ultra-comfortable armchairs in a thick granulated fabric, dimmer lights, a few works of art on the wall... Sum up this very soft and zen atmosphere, which we owe to the interior designer, Lazaro Rosa Violan.

It's rather very successful, even if we may regret a little audacity in this refined decoration, all in all very classic, which is that of the moment in the international luxury hotel industry.

But after all, it's better to have no surprises than a bad surprise... Especially since the customer gets what they want, in terms of comfort, with great amenities, such as a minibar provided, a coffee machine, a flat screen and a Bluetooth speaker.

In the impeccable bathrooms, shower or bathtub, or shower and bathtub, nothing is missing.

Let's go to the ground floor of the hotel and the bar, led by Kevin Eteo Mba, a former member of So Paris, who has mixed a dozen signature cocktails, including two without alcohol (From €14 to €45).

Benches and poufs, colorful fireside chairs, mirror on the ceiling… The decor borrowed from the 1970s is rather exotic!

The color of the walls, terracotta, adds to the charm of this set which opens directly onto rue d'Anjou if you do not want to take the main door.

At table !

In what was the main courtyard of the mansion, is the nugget of Maison Delano, its restaurant, La Chambre Bleue, a tribute to Picasso born in Malaga, the city of the beginnings of the chef, Dani Garcia, a multi-starred the Iberian Peninsula.

But beware, he is not in the kitchen, where we find the executive chef, Rhis Alen, rather talented, to set Spanish cuisine to music punctuated by tapas, fish and above all paellas of all kinds, somewhat revisited.

The desserts are also very elaborate and above all authentic, like this crème caramel flan, which smells of Catalonia.

The spectacle is also in the cutlery, a plate with very Picasso-like figurines and glasses with colored balls, signed Federico de Mayo.

The service, in a vague movida that smells of Spain, is efficient and very smiling.

We get away with around 100 € per person, à la carte, which is not cheap at all, even if the taste buds come out excited

On the hotel side, we are in the upper range of the district, from 800 € for a double room.

Maison Delano thus offers two faces, that of a hotel where one cultivates cocooning and calm, like an oasis, and that of a restaurant, whose Hispanic concept invites you to party!

Finally something that moves and changes...
