Netanyahu: Out of national responsibility, I decided to suspend the legislation in order to reach a broad consensus (Leam)
Today (Tuesday), the coalition placed on the Knesset table for second and third reading the basic bill: the judiciary, concerning the change in the composition of the committee for the selection of judges.
The assumption is a routine procedural procedure similar to any bill approved by the committee but does not necessarily indicate its promotion.
However, the opposition attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for this.
The chairman of Yisrael Beitenu Avigdor Lieberman wrote on Twitter that "The meaning is that at any given moment it can come up for a vote and pass in the plenary.
A gun to the head in the full sense of the word." MK Karin Elharer Mish Atid wrote on Twitter that "There is no doubt that this is not how you conduct a real conversation with a selfish soul. This is how crooks behave."
"At any given moment it can be voted on and passed by the plenary. A gun to the head."

MK Naama Lazimi from the Labor Party said that this is a "gun held to the temple". According to her, "There is no reason that during the time of negotiations and a stop, the law will be ready for the plenary from the moment it calms down.
This is to tell the negotiating teams that they are on par immediately.
If there was good faith, they would have postponed the assumption until the end of the talks."
In response, the coalition said that this was only a "technical procedure", and there was no intention to advance the bill, just as Netanyahu promised last night - at least until the next summer session of the Knesset after Memorial Day and independence.
