The video that accompanies this news item shows the images made public by police officers in Nashville (Tennessee, United States), where this Monday a 28-year-old girl fatally shot three nine-year-old children and three employees, from Ages 60 and 61, at Covenant Elementary School.
Police later shot the shooter dead and identified her as Audrey Elizabeth Hale, a former student who had detailed maps of the school, including points of entry to the building, drawn at her home.
The girl left behind a manifesto and other writings that investigators are examining, police said.
In the images from the security cameras, it can be seen how the young woman shoots through the glass doors and walks through the corridors with a semi-automatic rifle in her hands.
The woman was wearing a black vest over a white T-shirt, camouflage pants and a backwards red baseball cap.
Until now it is known that the woman was armed with two assault rifles and a pistol, which the young woman obtained legally.
The suspect herself had several rounds of ammunition and she was prepared for a confrontation with the agents.
Nashville Police Chief Jon Drake has said the attack may have been motivated by trauma to the shooter during her school days.
"We think there was some resentment about having to go to that school, although we don't have the details yet," Blake said.
According to the K-12 School Shooting Database, a website founded by researcher David Riedman, there have been 89 school shootings in the United States in 2023. There were 303 such incidents last year, the highest number in the history of this file, which dates back to 1970.
