Can you get a pension of 3,000 euros or more in Germany?

It's possible - but the hurdles are extremely high.

Frankfurt am Main - In Germany, pensioners find it difficult to get statutory old-age income of more than 3,000 euros.

The FAZ

calculated that

.

According to this, only 50 pensioners in Germany receive a pension of more than 3,000 euros - by law, mind you.

The German pension insurance did not want to confirm this when asked, the paper continues.

The federal government's pension insurance report only states that in 50 cases it is very likely that you will have a pension of more than 3,000 euros.

The official graduation of the pension insurance only goes up to 2,400 euros per month.

The insurance company does not want to say how much the pensioner with the highest income in Germany gets.

“But it is true that currently only 0.6 percent of pensioners have more than 2,400 euros in payment per month.

So one in 160. And taxes and health insurance haven't even been deducted," it continues.

How do you get a pension of 3,000 euros?

And how is the pension calculated?

Well, this year for around 43,000 euros gross annual income - that is the German "average wage" - one payment point.

The pension is currently worth around 36 euros

Contributions are collected up to an annual income of 87,600 euros per year (equivalent to 7300 euros per month).

Anyone who manages to do this gets a good two payment points per year.

Anyone who has always earned at the upper limit for 45 years has a good 90 earnings points and thus a pension of more than 3200 euros.

DRV President Gundula Roßbach recently said in an interview with the

Münchner Merkur

that the statutory pension insurance is a reliable safeguard for old age .

Whether it is enough in individual cases always depends on how well your own provision is set up overall in the three pillars of statutory, company and private pension insurance.

“So that everyone can get a good overview for themselves, we will be offering the digital pension overview from the summer.

All citizens will then be able to call up the data on their pension products on the go and see what they can expect when they retire.”
