Nina and Giulio De Filippo had to say goodbye to the Peitinger Eiscafé Pinocchio at the end of 2022 after almost ten years - news that caused a lot of dismay in the market town.

Now the two are back with a new ice cream business.

Peiting – It was the end of last year when the previously ideal world of Nina and Giulio De Filippo got a little out of joint.

After almost ten years as the leaseholder of the Pinocchio ice cream parlor in Peiting, it was time to say goodbye.

The lease was not renewed.

From the dream, end, finito.

It was a shock back then, not only for the De Filippos, but also for the people from Peiting.

The sympathy is great when the family says goodbye with an emotional letter in the shop window and thanks for the support over the past few years.

Even then, Nina and Giulio De Filippo left no doubt that they would prefer to stay in the market town that had grown dear to them at the time.

Now everything looks as if this wish will come true.

And the people of Peiting also play their part in this.

Ice production is already running in the new business premises

When it became clear that the family with the two children would have to vacate their home above the ice cream parlor, "we were immediately offered an apartment," says Nina De Filippo.

Many hands also lent a hand when moving the large amount of equipment.

"We got a lot of help."

In the past few weeks, the professional future finally took shape.

The De Filippos went looking for a suitable place to produce ice cream.

They found what they were looking for in the commercial area on Ammergauer Straße next to Aldi.

Giulio De Filippo has set up his small gelato empire there since the beginning of March.

The “Guilio's Gelato” logo is already emblazoned on the shop window.

Ice machine, shock freezer and cold store are already in place.

Last Friday, food control gave the green light.

Since then, the ice cream maker has been in his element again.

"The first varieties are already ready," he reveals proudly.

Sale by ice machine

However, you will not be able to buy the ice cream directly on site.

For sales, the family relies on ice machines, which are to be set up at various locations in the region.

The couple has already explored the first locations in recent weeks.

In Peiting there is already a vending machine at the Gasthof Keppeler, which will soon be moving to the "Pflanzeria".

Ice cream connoisseurs will soon be able to enjoy Gelato made in Peiting in Altenstadt (Filser butcher), Burggen and Hohenpeissenberg.

They want to offer 14 varieties including spaghetti ice cream.

The concept is not new, other providers in the district also rely on homemade ice cream from the vending machine.

"Of course we hope that it will be accepted," says Nina De Filippo.

"But we're full of confidence, that wasn't always the case recently." And who knows, maybe the new business idea is just a stopover, because the De Filippos don't want to completely shelve the dream of their own ice cream parlor.
